THE TED SLADE AWARD FOR SERVICE TO POETRY 2007

A special annual award by the editorial staff of Poetry Kit. This award is given for services to Poetry and we hope will in time come to be seen as an accolade awarded to those who, like Ted Slade, dedicated a good part of their time and energy to the promotion of poetry of all kinds with little or no reward for themselves.

The winner of the TED SLADE AWARD FOR SERVICE TO POETRY is

Michael Horovitz

Michael has been a champion fighting the cause of poetry since the 1960's.  With New Departures and Poetry Olympics he has been an innovator who created platforms on which many performance artists have developed their skills and been launched into prominence.  For his unstinting work for poetry we have no hesitation in awarding Michael Horovitz the 2007 Ted Slade Award for Service to Poetry.

Previous recipients of the Ted Slade Award
2005 - Sally Evans
Editor and publisher of POETRY SCOTLAND
2006 - Gerald England
Editor and publisher of New Hope International

Congratulations to all our finalists and to those who attracted the most votes.
