LIVERPOOL POETS 2008

Reg Weaver

I am a local poet now living in Ellesmere Port and have published 5 books of poems since 1999. Most are humorous but the odd serious one does rear it's head on occasion. I have performed with Jim Bennett on numerous occasions and elsewhere.

All my books have in their title 'Weave A ...  Weave A Poem 1,  Weave A Poem 2  etc etc. - my name being Weaver!

Published so far are:

Weave A Poem 1 - mainly humorous but contains four serious poems on the subjects I abhor - child molesting and rape.

Weave A Poem 2 was written and signed by John Parrott with a foreword by John. I donated the total proceeds to the Countess of Chester Hospital towards their Breast cancer appeal which boosted their funds by some £1300. When that appeal closed  I Donated the money to the Bee Positive appeal for a new ward for those undergoing treatment. my donation was only £300 before that appeal was completed. I wrote a poem 'Be Positive' in volume 1 in 1999.

Weave A Poem 3 is for grownups only and is very naughty. Full of innuendo - rude NOT Crude.

Weave A poem 4 is for children aged 6 to 106! and contains numerous sketches etc. Good clean to silly fun.

Weave A Story is full of fictional stories, love, murder, intrigue, - you name it. Nothing crude, nasty but original

Weave A Poem 6 is full of love poems of great sentimentality.

Weave An African Story 7 is about our exploits in Nigeria, West Africa just prior to the war in Biafra. Many 'hairy' stories, murder, corruption and unusual experiences including Ju Ju worship, Fulani beatings and many other interesting situations complete with photographs and newspaper cuttings where applicable.

All books are still available for £5 each except book 7 which is £7. Wrapped but excluding postage

Note in fairness to John Parrott we have omitted his signature and contribution from book 2 as the proceeds are no needed at the hospital for the Breast cancer care project.

The birds depicted on the covers are - guess what?- Weaver birds of course!

I do not use the 'F' word or other nasties in any of my books one never knows how young your reader may be.

By far the majority of my poems are in the old rhythm and rhyme mode not the modern idiom.
