LIVERPOOL POETS 2008

Gayna Florence Perry
I am a professional writer who has contributed articles to a number of publications, including monthly ones to an in-flight magazine, with much of my poetry also having been published in anthologies.
I have also regularly worked as a singer as well as a writer, arranger and composer of music, with over seventy pieces published to date. I returned to Liverpool after seven years in London, where I worked as a musician, music lecturer and songwriter, singing with jazz and classical ensembles or performing my own material, and running a small company, 'Light on Music'. I now make my living as a writer, composer, performer and music lecturer in addition to my work as company director (see below). The band ''Cant' began playing my original songs live again in 2005.
As creative director of an arts-based performance company, 'Strange Attractors (In Light) Ltd', my first full length musical play, 'It's my party', was staged at Unity Theatre in 2001 having previewed as part of the International Womens' Festival in March 2000, and at Blackburne House Centre in December 2000.
My second, a cross-platform musical event collaboration with three visual artists, a film-maker and a musician, and entitled 'Danger! Vacuum', was staged at the Pacific Rd Theatre, Hamilton Quarter, in September 2002, having previewed first at Williamson Art Gallery in April 2002. The company was set up in April 2000 to present original performed works, and promote collaboration between established local artists in order to produce cross-platform or multi-media events.
My most recent project has involved co-writing a sitcom intended for TV.
