LIVERPOOL POETS 2008

Pat Kelly
I Have an MA in Writing Studies from Edge Hill University. My friends and I, who all belonged to the same cohort formed a group of poetry and prose writers who meet each month at Edge Hill; this group has now widened to include all who are interested in poetry and prose. I have had some poetry and a couple of short stories published in small magazines. Appended is a sample of my poetry; please contact me for any other information
Though it is so far so good
Undoubtedly
there is far worse to come
I’m bearing up
To the suffering quite nicely
Although it’s a bloody load to carry
I’ll do myself proud
But beneath the surface
There is some hard paddling to keep things going
_______________________________
In the confusion
And the shock
It’s hard at first
To take anything in
I’m thinking to myself
I really shouldn’t be here
I’m being told something
About the pictures
Which are deeply disturbing
But also strikingly beautiful
There is a mass of information
To absorb
The voices merge
With the background noises of children
Laughing and playing in the sunshine outside
