LIVERPOOL POETS 2008

Nigel Astell

I have been writing poetry since I was on a English Literacy Course at Aquinas College in Stockport in 1995 run by Joan Sambrook this wonderful lady encouraged me to express my feelings and thoughts by writing poetry.

I am a keen poet who likes to write about everyday events and I have had several poems published and a one put on display at the Hat Museum in Stockport and also at the Manchester United Museum at Old Trafford when George Best died.

My latest poem published was called 'When the light went out' and is a true ghost story all about a group of children who went down the underground caves in Stockport and was featured in the Stockport Heritage Magazine and also was put on a Cheshire poetry map.

All Aboard

Fate drives this train
Bending twisting and turning
Travelling on a line of destiny.

Single journey no return
Junctions just passing through
Tracks in time of countryside and town.

Inside signals of friendship
Strangers step aside
All destinations become one

At this level crossing.
