quantitative verse - Verse based on the rhythmic succession of long and short syllables. The unit of measurement is the mora. This form of rhythmic structure was used primarily in Latin and Greek poetry. (See also mora, accent, long syllable, short syllable)

quatorzain - A poem of fourteen lines. The term includes the sonnet.

quatrain - Four lines of verse, which can be a stanza or part of a stanza or a whole poem. Often the quatrain has a rhyme abab, but not necessarily. (See also heroic quatrain)

Queen’s English - Same as King’s English.

quintain - A poem or stanza of five lines.

quintet - Usually a poem of five lines. The same as quintain. (See also cinquain
