Tidal Jitterbug

By Barbara Phillips

morning moon cotton smudge in skies
awake in sleep-glow sunrise
grabs earth into a jitterbug
rocks in gravitational gyrations
pours riots of creatures over
rocks and sands cleansed into exaggeration
sea hares with 19,000 teeth
graze on algae tossed to waves
sputtering at cautious feet of hermit crabs
picking paths among barnacles
combed by kelp lit by candy stripe
shrimp shimmies in blueredyellow undulations
anemones with fatal intentions
beckon in masks of balletic grace
king crabs lope regally balanced
on cusps of rivalries engaging
moon earth sun in dance marathons
quantum leaping theories through sea realities
