I Can Wish It

By Bill Webb

She told me no,
But I’d only said
I wished my head
Was buried in her breasts.
You can’t stop me wishing.
She said no.
I can’t stop you dreaming.

I told her I still loved her.
She said she had to go,
Her potato was done
Getting cold.
We weren’t going
To talk heavy.
But I could call again.

I said too many starches,
Especially with all those
Hot sugars she drinks.
She said she knows.
Thanks for caring,
She needed to go.

I wish I were laying naked with her
On this cold rainy night.
Legs intertwined.
Kissing, drinking wine.
She can’t stop me wishing.
Maybe she’s glad I do
At least just a little.
