150 word Flash Fiction

It's all over now, and things can only get better. The operations went reasonably well. Filling in the insurance claim forms took hours, and I was a bit vague about family history for the lifestyle questions. I just know my dad lived to be nearly ninety.

I'm looking forward to going back to work next month, particularly catching up with all the news. The house is so quiet. Maybe I can even plan a holiday.

But right now I can only think of one thing. The cheque for the insurance lump sum arrived yesterday, and I could hardly get to the bank fast enough, I was so scared of losing it. The day after tomorrow, I collect my silver soft-top Mercedes.
