My Last Thought

by Victoria Clark

If you would die tomorrow,
What would you remember.
The bright sunshine of August.
Or the rain clouds of December.
Family around the Christmas tree,
All eating warm mince pies.
The crunching of autumn’s fallen leaves,
The Red glow of October skies.
The pier head in the morning,
Watching dolphins out at sea.
The silence in the hilltops,
That belonged to you and me.
For me it would be none of these,
I stand up and take my cue.
As I tell the world and God above,
My last thought would be you.
