Louie Crew (aka Quean
Lutibelle, Li Min Hua, Dr. Ddungo....) was born deep behind the Cotton
Curtain of the old South in Anniston, Alabama in 1936. He and his
husband Ernest Clay married in 1974 and have lived in as a racially
integrated couple in Georgia, Wisconsin, Beijing, Hong Kong, Chicago,
and New Jersey. They now live in East Orange, NJ
Crew has
published more than 1,600 poems and essays,
almost 300 of them under his pseudonym Li Min Hua. He read his
poetry live on four continents. He is a retired literature professor at
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He publishes
a list
of all magazines that accept poetry submissions by email.
He is the founder of Integrity, the gay and lesbian
organization of the Episcopal Church USA (Anglicans), and serves on the
38-member elected Executive Council of The Episcopal Church.
