Submitting to Magazines

  1. DON'T submit work to a magazine you've never read.
  2. DON'T submit more than half-dozen poems at a time, unless you know the editor you're aiming at is willing to read more.
  3. DO send a covering letter giving brief details about yourself and your poems (e.g. where else you've been published, competition successes etc.) DON'T send your life story.
  4. DO type your poems, one poem per page on one side only of plain A4 paper. If you make an error in typing, retype.
  5. DO type your name and address on each sheet.
