NEIL HOPKINS

Washington Adams
after The Spoon River Anthology

The only poem I ever wrote
came via a goddamn Ouija board
long after Id supposedly left.
It was a strange kind of poem,
almost trite in its folksiness
yet gritted with a few truths
other boots could get a grip on.
I never liked it all that much.
