Poetry Part One Course

COURSES START SECOND AND LAST MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH

As with all our courses the emphasis is on encouraging the student to produce poetry and to give good reliable feedback.

Develop your craft, refine your voice, and take your poetry to the next level.

Poetry 1 is designed for writers who have mastered the basics and are ready to deepen their understanding of contemporary poetry, poetic techniques, and the practical aspects of being a working poet. Through guided study, writing exercises, discussions, critiques, and personalised feedback, participants will build both their technical skills and creative confidence.

The course encourages students to explore a range of poetic styles and approaches while developing a clear and authentic voice of their own.

About the Course

This engaging and practical course takes participants through many of the key elements of modern poetry writing. Through a carefully structured programme of exercises, discussions, notes, and tutor feedback, students will develop their powers of observation, strengthen their use of language, and gain a deeper understanding of how successful poems are crafted.

Alongside writing practice, the course explores a variety of poetic forms and styles, helping participants become familiar with important technical concepts while applying them creatively in their own work.

The programme also introduces the practical realities of a poet's life, including editing, preparing work for publication, and presenting poetry to an audience.
