The Promise April 2020

Red glow of geraniums

sturdy and sincere

their love lights up each day.

Their vibrancy embracing life.

Linger at the pansies,

a gift from a friend,

such a kind thought.

They glow in orange glory.

Celandine, some call them weeds

but the yellow stars of day

open to the warmth of sunshine,

defy in abundant happiness.

Cut the grass on a drying day

green renewing itself forever

growing amid the plucky clover.

In its wisdom always there.

Thank the sky for blue

as it turns ordinary to perfect,

invigorates the garden

and enriches with joy.

Indigo, the colour of wild bluebells,

planted in the corner years ago

to remind me of that day in May,

find reason to bloom in April this year.

Violets, sweet surprise, shy but brave,

creep from a crack in a paving slab.

Their seeds knew what to do

to complete a rainbow, the promise.
