Elaine Whybro lives in Wrexham, North Wales where she works as a supply primary school teacher. She has always written poetry from a young age after discovering the works of Robert Louis Stevenson and Pam Ayres. In 2013 she had a collection of poems published by Fledgling Press called Dinosaur Bones, this publication was the prize awarded by the publishers online poetry site Can you Write? run by the late Zander Wedderburn.  Elaine has found poetry an invaluable outlet during lockdown.

Covid Alphabet

 

A's for Advice which is stay in your home

B is for Broadband so we can all phone

C is for Cases we need to unpack

D's for Deposits we're all getting back!

E is for Everyone's in the same boat

F is for freedom for Llandudno goat!

G is for Games on our children's iPads

H is for Homeschooling by mums n dads!

I is for Idiots meeting their friends

J is for Jail-how it feels till this ends!

K is for Knighthood for good old Tom Moore

L's for Laps walked by a hero of war.

M is for Minecraft a great kid distraction

N is for Nightmare of teaching subtraction

O is for 'Oh when will this ever end!'

P is for Pride in our NHS friends.

Q is for Queen and her speech of support

R is for Racing and lack of all sport.

S is for Shopping online with our purses

T is for Thankyou to doctors and nurses

U is for Utterly, horribly bored

V is for Virus that's got us all floored!

W is 'When can we start adventuring?'

X is for eXcessive, eXcellent drinking!
Y is for Yearning to travel to Venice

Z is for Zumba on Zoom with our Janis!

 

Now I know my A B C next time let's hope we'll be free!!
