Lucas Gleeson Hamilton, New Zealand. Lucas is a speaker/poet born and raised in the
North Island of New Zealand. His word choice often pays homage to his
love for the outdoors. Written 29th April 2020 Shattered. Your tears are stars scarring the night sky, Briefly, With the most intense pain, I wish I could fix, Brokenness, Yours, mine, the worlds, I see your mouth move, Forming syllables but not words, Wanting to express the deepest ache, Unable to shatter the silence that holds you
embraced, To speak, Feels like a betrayal, I know, I know the fault lines in your heart, I know them, because most I helped carve, They mirror the valleys etched into mine, Why did we allow ourselves this closeness, While still holding the blades of our past
outstretched before us, Did we really anchor to the make believe, That two ruined souls could collide without
leaving a mark? I loved you with depth only the oceans knew, No wonder we nearly drowned, No wonder we dragged each other down, I wonder, Why the most honest sadness, Creates the most brutally beautiful things, I see you, When I block out the world and close my eyes
tight, Sitting in the corner of your room, Leaning against your bed, You want somewhere to rest your head and absorb
the tears, But to be in bed, Is too much comfort, You can’t allow yourself that just yet, Because comfort, Is what you had with me, Broken no longer encompasses, The shattered that remains. |
