A Song of Taynish
Walking in Taynish, warm sun in the sky The world around me catches my eye I see rare plants, insects, blue skies And all around me, dragonflies. I see the Gate House so serene Amid these trails so tranquil and green Feeling of peace can never fail Then I see the way for the Barr Mor Trail Out here in Taynish feeling so serene In a world that’s always peaceful and green. Go past the old charcoal burner there Go up the hill, just take your time, with care The top is windswept, high, and wild You can gaze in wonder like a child.
Pass a bench go through a gap in a drystone wall.
Detour off to visit the coast, but that’s not all
Swimming in the tides the otters can be seen
Where for thousands of years they’ve been.
Along
the track there’s a grassy field and A
view of Taynish House it will yield Walk
on you’ll see what you deserve A
south eastern view of Taynish reserve. Turn
to your left and into the wood A
living, breathing place that’s so good Pass
the stone pillars on the old way To
Taynish House, is what I say. The
Scottish rainforest is what they tell About
the woodlands known so well.
Beautiful plants growing there still, then You
descend the steps to Taynish Mill. Walking in Taynish, warm sun in the sky The world around me catches my eye I see rare plants, insects, blue skies And all around me, dragonflies.
