Two Poems - Yellow Submarine - Going

Written 12th April 2020

Yellow Submarine

The Beatles are there before me,
their Yellow Submarine a celebration.
I can add nothing as mad and childish,
fun or intense,
light or dark,
to its wild mix.
Just let me say
that when I see your tiny replica
masquerading as a strainer
I start taking tea less seriously.

Going

Going through the small door

Going down the twisting path

Going over the iron bridge

Going by the first post

Going up the steep steps

Going into the shady wood

Going across the stepping stones

Going under a blue sky

Going around the flock of sheep

Going over the loose scree

Going close to the cliff edge

Going along the narrow ridge

Going past the eagle’s nest

Going beyond the last post

Going to add a rock to the cairn

Going to take the long view

Going to reach the horizon
