Mother’s Day

There could be no touching,

no hugs, no kisses.

I’d brought cake and flowers,

handed them through the window.

We laughed about it,

talked about after.

We agreed to Skype later,

blew kisses from a distance.

I left her in dad’s hands,

the safest hands she could have.
