Heart to hurt
So I try to tell you it how it
was for me.
I am foolish enough
to think you might even
attempt to understand.
I had such hopes for us.
My words bounce against your
shield,
fly back at me, all twisted
out of shape.
Enraged, I hurl my desperation
at you.
It rebounds, falls at your
feet. You trample it.
I have no shield.
Your next sharp spike pierces
my heart
You are so much better at this
game
if the aim is just to win.
