“Shock of Ages” poem written on 5 October 2020

Shock of Ages

God is in His Heaven,

Mary is His Mother.

Father Power says it,

So it must be true.

Two and two equal four.

Miss Drilly says so,

So it must be true.

Superman to the rescue.

Captain Kirk protects the ship.

The Doctor has saved the Earth.

The universe of Junior

Is all in order.

God is so in question,

Construct of the human mind.

The philosophers debate it;

Who knows what is the truth?

Numbers are not so simple,

So the statisticians say.

Depends on how they’re sorted.

Heroes reside in fiction,

Soothers of the mind.

The medics might save your health.

The universe of Senior

Is all a mystery.
