technique, and discover your own poetic voice. The Poetry Foundation Course is designed for
aspiring poets who want a structured introduction to contemporary poetry
and the craft of writing. Through guided study, practical exercises, and
personalised feedback, participants will develop the skills and
confidence needed to write more effective and engaging poetry. Whether you are completely new to poetry or
looking to strengthen your existing skills, this course provides a
supportive and encouraging environment in which to learn and grow as a
writer. About the Course This foundation course takes participants through
many of the essential processes of writing poetry, combining practical
instruction with a wide range of writing exercises and examples. The course focuses on modern free-form poetry and
the principles of good writing practice, helping students develop a
clear understanding of how contemporary poems are created and refined.
Along the way, participants will explore observation, language, imagery,
structure, and revision techniques while developing their own individual
style and voice. Our aim is to help students establish good
writing habits and a structured approach to creativity through a
programme of guided study, exercises, and tutor feedback.
